Ken Rivers September 5th Speaker

Mr. Rivers background encompasses over 25 years of executive healthcare administration. Currently, Mr. Rivers serves as the Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director at Southwest Healthcare System which operates Inland Valley Medical Center in Wildomar and Rancho Springs Medical Center in Murrieta and Temecula Valley Day Surgery in Murrieta.

Along with a dedicated leadership team, physicians and the entire hospital staff, Mr. Rivers directed the opening of the 91 million dollar expansions to both hospitals which include new emergency departments featuring more than 70 bays, expanded ICU at Inland Valley that doubled bed capacity, and the largest Women’s Center in the entire region located at Rancho Springs.  His leadership was instrumental in passing one of the largest state and federal surveys and now steers the development for the region’s first NICU at Rancho Springs and Cardiac Services at Inland Valley.  Each of these service lines are to better serve the needs of the community and are in partnership with clinically integrated strategies with physicians and community partners.

Besides being a Paul Harris Fellow and Rotarian, Mr. Rivers serves with many philanthropic and healthcare organizations including Chairman for the Riverside County Chapter of the American Red Cross during his 26 year tenure.  The local chapter, on average, responds daily to community members in need of aid stemming from fire, flood or other disasters.  Mr. Rivers has a Sc.B. from Brown University and a M.S./M.B.A. from the University of La Verne. He has two incredible children, enjoys travel, life and “plays golf by appointment.”

Rotary Avenues of Service

Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self is channeled through five Avenues of Service, which form the foundation of Rotary.

New Generations Service

New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities such as RYLA, Rotaract and Interact club service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange.

Vocational Service

Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process.

Community Service

Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in the local community.

International Service

International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to PolioPlus to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries.

Club Service

Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs.
