Temecula Rotary assists Health Care Camp a half a world away

Temecula Rotary provides financial assistance to Rotary Club of Khulna North, Khulna, Bangladesh for their first "Health Care Camp" for the Rotary year 2012-13.

"Rotary Club of Khulna North implemented the first “Health Care Camp” for the Rotary year 2012-13 with the assistance of the Rotary Club of Temecula, District 5330, USA on Thursday, 9 August 2012 from 9:00 am (9:00 am to 1:30pm), at A H Bhuyan Rotary Clinic and Diabetic Center, 24 Old Jessore Road, Khalishpur, Khulna.

Our physician President Rtn. Dr. Saidul Islam together with PP Dr. Mostafa Kamal, and PE Dr. M. B. Zaman clinically examined the underprivileged malnourished mothers, children and senior citizens.  Members of the club and some Medical staffs assisted them to implement the project.  105 patients were provided medications and consultations. Few patients were referred to Government hospitals for further Medicare.

Rotaractors and young Rotarians extended their help and support to recruit the patients from the surrounding slum areas.  Zonal Rotary leaders including Lieutenant Governor Rtn Farhad Ahmed Akand and some invited guests observed the camp."

The camps will continue over the next several months. The Rotary Club of Temecula financial assistance provides medicines and supplies. Rotary Club of Khulna North established on 23 March 1980.  The Rotary Club of Khulna sponsored the Club.  GGR was Late Rtn. PP Rafiqul Islam. Rtn. Sarwar Khan and Rtn. Major Shahiduzzaman was the Charter President & Honorary Secretary respectively. Charter members of this club were 30. After 403 days, the Rotary International recognized the Club on April 30, 1981 and the Charter was presented by the then DG Late Rtn. M. Mashiur Rahman on 12 June 1981.  During last 32 years a few members left the club transferring their job, some are expired and some left the Rotary club.  Only Charter Member Rtn. PP Sk. Abdul Hadi is with us since his joining to the club. He also served two times as the President of the Club.  Now our club members are 22.

The Club since its inception involved to implement many projects like - Eye camps, Family Planning, Sanitary Latrines, Tube wells, Passenger Sheds, Training on Sewing, Typing & Computer, Integrated Village Development, Free Friday Clinic, Drugs & Aids Prevention, Immunization, Blood Donation, Stipends, Winter Clothe & Clothe the Orphans and so on.

Their prestigious Project 3-H Women Development Project was inaugurated in July 1992 with a grant of US$ 56, 000/- from The Rotary Foundation.  At present 350 women has been enjoying revolving Micro credit loan and working for their self-reliant income generating activities by divided into 30 troops.

The Free Friday Rotary Clinic & Diabetic center is running very efficiently to help poor people.  Four Physician club members providing (by rotation) their services excluding the Medical officer to meet the patients of our demand.

The club sponsored another five clubs namely - (A) Rotaract Club of Khulna North, (B) Rotary Club of Natore, (C) Rotary Club of Metropolitan Khulna, (D) Rotary Club of Polash & (E) Rotaract Club of Daulatpur.
