President Debbie announced that our June 20th meeting is being moved to Friday June 22nd at 5:30 pm, which is also her Demotion Party. This will count as our regular meeting so there is no extra charge to members, just your regular meal charge and guests will only be $15.  We really want to have a good turnout to say Thank you and goodbye to President Debbie.

Mark Van Dinter is keeping the Polio Pig one more week with the promise he will bring it back full! Governor Steve is asking for volunteers at the Oak Grove Interact carnival on June 9th from 10:30 to 12:30. Governor Steve and Vicky will be there and are hoping to have lots of our members help out as well.

Dave Thompson is asking for cast members for the demotion party, he needs 4 men and 4 women. Also asking for volunteers to work at the Balloon and Wine Festival June 1 – 3rd. Gary Thornhill is organizing helpers for our Military Appreciation concert on June 30th, we still need about 10 to 15 people.

Lloyd from the Old Town club invited us to attend their 3rd annual Old Town Hoedown this Sunday May 20th from 4:30 to 8pm. He also reminded us that our club founded their club and thanked us for our support.

Dr. Jeff Marrs stepped in as fine master because both Shane and Raj were absent; and did a marvelous job! Vickie Walker is celebrating her 7th wedding anniversary; Bernie has been married 32 years. Soledad is having a birthday and bragging that her son is student of the year. Jane Laskin’s daughter is graduating high school and Chad vacationed in Baja and Cabo and brought a shot glass from Monterrey – California. More bragging was done by David Lerma who boasted about his company Global Medical Equipment being nominated for small business of the year by the Murrieta Chamber, and Tena Caracciolo from Strachota said they were nominated for medium sized business of the year. Ed Prieboy was fined because he didn’t brag.

John Panique went on vacation in Florida and did lots of swimming with dolphins, wrestling gators and zip lining. He brought a shot glass. Kim Kelliher just got back from vacation in the Carolina’s and also went zip lining but didn’t bring a shot glass so she had to pay. Jon Lieberg is proud to announce his daughter was married on Saturday (no shot glass) and Gerry Wilson said on his birthday last month he was 82 years old – also no shot glass.

Program: Past District Governor Pete Olhasso introduced Governor Steve Wallace and his wife Vicky who gave a presentation on their recent trip to India and the work Rotary is doing in that country.

Drawing: Walt Allen had the winning ticket but did not draw the Joker – we’re up to $832 with only 14 cards left in the deck – a winner could draw the Joker any time now! Thanks very much to Bernie for selling tickets.

Next week is a presentation by the Loma Linda Murrieta Medical Center.

Rotary Avenues of Service

Rotary’s commitment to Service Above Self is channeled through five Avenues of Service, which form the foundation of Rotary.

New Generations Service

New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities such as RYLA, Rotaract and Interact club service projects, and creating international understanding with Rotary Youth Exchange.

Vocational Service

Vocational Service involves club members serving others through their professions and aspiring to high ethical standards. Rotarians, as business leaders, share skills and expertise through their vocations, and they inspire others in the process.

Community Service

Community Service is the opportunity Rotary clubs have to implement club projects and activities that improve life in the local community.

International Service

International Service encompasses efforts to expand Rotary’s humanitarian reach around the world and to promote world understanding and peace. It includes everything from contributing to PolioPlus to helping Rotary Youth Exchange students adjust to their host countries.

Club Service

Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the smooth functioning of Rotary clubs.
